emotional healing
the gift that we’ve been given comes with a spectrum of emotions. we were gifted this experience with the challenge of keeping our hearts open through it all. to feel, learn, and transform all that we go through. unfortunately, this part of the human experience can leave some feeling broken, empty, and closed up from all the pain that the'y’ve had to endure. One of the most powerful tools i’ve learned was how to heal my wounds. emotional wounds can be debilitating, and what I’ve found is that if we are to heal it then we need to have the courage to look at it, sit with it, feel it, and understand it. Emotions are energy in motion, so the work is to help them move through, over and over again. Like a baby needs help to walk across the room, we need to help the emotion pass through with compassion and so much love.
The first step to enter into this space is to first understand who you really are. If we continue to identify with this human body as our true selves then we will suffer a great deal. we will harden and close ourselves off to all the beauty that we were sent here to experience because we’re just “getting by”. We will miss out on the medicine that is present for us. every wound holds a deep secret leading you to a higher realization of consciousness. it’s simply life waking you up to who you truly are.
who are we if we aren’t the body, our name, our job title? Who are we when we look in the mirror? for the purpose of this blog i will share with you what i’ve found, but i will also share with you a meditation that you can commit to for 30 days and see what you find.
i found that behind my pain, happiness, my personality, my stories, behind who i show up as in the world, i am the silent witness that dwells within the body overseeing all things, connected to all things, a drop of source energy that is present within me to express itself through my body temple. once i got past the dramas, I was able to listen to the whispers of my soul. i was able to see her and feel her… in the chills that i get when i’m in alignment, when i’m resonating on a deep level. this essence that was, that is, and that always will be, is within me. this frequency of pure joy, pure bliss, that is me, and when i identify from this space i am reminded of the gift that this life is. i’m reminded that i have been sent here for a specific mission. attachments to people, places, and things have a way of taking our focus from this truth. we have to remember who we are and remember that this whole experience is to awaken the love within us. at the end of this life, our spirits, i believe, will continue in the vastness of the galaxy. being love, being bliss, being ecstatic energy in motion. constantly birthing and morphing into waves pulsating through the cosmos. when i remember this, it helps me heal my emotional wounds, i can love into these pains channeling an infinite love where everything is connected and all are one.
Once i am grounded in the true “I Am” then i can call the emotion/situation into my consciousness with a loving awareness. I open myself to see the true essence behind the person/situation from a higher perspective. I start by inviting it into my conscious. I greet it with a hello. next, i like to sence what emotions are present with me. sorrow, love, fear, anger, shame, guilt, etc. Then it’s a beautiful process of asking the feeling why? why am I feeling this? is it affecting any part in myself- such as security, self worth, fear, etc. next I ask my spirit what i can do to help heal this or protect myself if needed in the future? i love to ask my spirit what is the medicine here? how can i send love to the person/situation while poring into myself and taking away the gems that can be hidden here. it’s so important to listen to your inner guidance and begin to learn how to fill your own cup. This can mean deepening your practice with affirmations, meditations, mirror work, yoga, scheduling a massage, dancing. whatever can bring you into a deeper presence with yourSelf. this is a beautiful practice of listening to what it is that our bodies are craving and then giving it to ourselves and loving ourselves through the pain.
healing our emotions is hard work. it takes courage, honesty, and consistency in showing up for yourself, but in this work, i promise you, it will also bring contentment and liberation. it will give you a deeper love and connection with self. through doing this work you build a confidence in knowing that no matter what happens in life, you will always be okay!
Life is beautiful and i’m finding that the challenges have been the foundation for experiencing the depths that love has to offer. it’s so worth it.
A meditation that helped me move into a space of love is the guru ram das meditation. I love the recording by ajeet.
this meditation is beautiful for self healing, protective grace, and emotional relief.
The Guru Ram Das mantra is an ashtang mantra. Ashtang mantras have eight parts. They catalyze the kundalini energy to initiate through your own effort and devotion. The first part of the mantra, Guru Guru Wahe Guru, projects the mind to the Infinite, the source of knowledge and ecstasy. The second part, Guru Ram Das Guru, means “the wisdom that comes as a servant of the Infinite.”
Posture: come into a seated position.
eyes: are closed, gazing into the third eye.
Mudra: hands are in prayer pose
Mantra: Guroo Guroo Wha-hay Guroo, Guroo Ram Das Guroo
repeat the mantra for 7-11 minutes building on that as you progress.
sat nam! let me know how it goes for you! :)
